Welcome to Spanish Class!

Children in Kindergarten through fifth grade receive Spanish instruction on a weekly basis.  The Kindergarten and first grade participate in a video instruction program with their homeroom teachers while the second through fifth graders receive instruction from a qualified Spanish teacher.   The multi-level program is designed specifically for primary / elementary grades to develop communication ability in listening, speaking, reading, writing and culture, in a way similar to that in which a child learns his first language.  The use of this curriculum places the MSW program on the cutting edge because it presents Spanish language acquisition in an organized and consistent manner from year to year.  In the end, children will learn Spanish language skills, an appreciation of the diversity of cultures in the Spanish-speaking worlds, and life-long language acquisition strategies.

 The program was introduced in the 2005/2006 school year and plans are to expand the program to the junior high in the future.
