5th Grade
Fifth grade is the first year of Junior High at Mary, Seat of Wisdom School and, as such, students are guided towards greater independence, responsibility, and respect for themselves and others. The fifth grade Language Arts curriculum focuses on the mechanics of language and on improving writing skills. Both the accelerated and regular math classes require a new level of responsibility for the students to keep track of homework, quizzes and tests. Fifth grade students learn to master basic study skills, including outlining, recognizing context clues, maps, charts and graphs. A Family Life unit is included with the standard Science curriculum. The Religion curriculum consists of a detailed study of the seven Sacraments through the Blest Are We textbook.
