Room 119: Mrs. Peg Olsen
I am very grateful to become a full time staff member at Mary, Seat of Wisdom. I love interacting with students and watching them grow physically, emotionally and become the best students they can be! In my classroom, humor is a large component. When we learn to laugh at ourselves we become more accepting of people around us.
Background and Education
I grew up in Elk Grove Village and attended Elk Grove High School. I received a B.S. in Education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. I also have an area of concentration in social sciences.
Years of Teaching Experience
I began at MSW as a substitute for the 2008-2009 school year. That gave me a great opportunity to get to know many of the MSW students. In 2009-2010 I was a long term substitute in 4th grade for Mrs. Wojciewchowski. I am currently in my second year teaching 6th grade Composition and 7th grade Literature and Composition.
Additional Activities at MSW
I am looking forward to helping the students at MSW in any capacity. I enjoyed working the lock-in and ice cream social and helping on several faculty committees. I also coach the MSW Softball team. GO HAWKS!
Hobbies and Interests
I have been married to my husband, Doug for over 33 years. We have three grown children, Maren, Derek and Ryan and their spouses, Scott, Ashley and Sherri. I am looking forward to being a new grandma (times 2) in the summer of 2012! Next to my family and students, my greatest passion is coaching youth athletics. I have coached for over 20 years. I currently founded the travel softball program out of Elk Grove Village and coach a 12U travel team. We spend the summers traveling to several states and playing 60 plus games!
