Spanish
The Spanish language program was introduced at MSW in the 2005-06 school year and serves students in Kindergarten through eighth grade. The Kindergarten students participate in a video instruction program with their homeroom teachers, while the first through eighth graders receive instruction from a qualified Spanish teacher. The multi-level program is designed specifically for primary / elementary grades to develop communication ability in listening, speaking, reading, writing and culture, similar to the way a child learns his first language. The use of this curriculum places the MSW program on the cutting edge because it presents Spanish language acquisition in an organized and consistent manner from year to year. In the end, children will learn Spanish language skills, develop an appreciation of the diversity of cultures in the Spanish-speaking worlds, and learn life-long language acquisition strategies.
