Grade 6
Sixth grade students are getting used to changing classes and learning to be more responsible for their work.
Language Arts
- Focuses on the elements of literature and composition.
- Requires the reading of a variety of novels and the study of literary elements. Book reports are written each trimester.
- Implements the 6 Traits of Writing and journaling is done weekly.
Math
- Accelerated and regular math both require students to keep track of homework, quizzes, and tests.
- Each student is required to keep a math notebook, which is checked throughout the year.
Science
- Covers three major units of earth science: earth’s materials and processes, changing surfaces of the earth, and astronomy.
- Explores lecture material further through lab experiments.
Social studies
- Covers Africa, ancient civilizations, and medieval times.
- Assessed on small and large projects in addition to homework, quizzes, and tests.
Religion
- Studies the elements of our faith by completing chapter reviews of required reading.
- Enjoys meeting with their fourth grade Faith Partners.
