8th Grade
The goal for all Mary, Seat of Wisdom eighth grade students is that they are prepared for the challenges of high school and the world beyond. Eighth grade students are introduced to the genre of drama in Language Arts. The accelerated and regular math curriculum transitions students from Pre-Algebra to Algebra I, with attention given to maintaining skills and introducing new concepts. Eighth grade students study U.S. history, beginning with the Reconstruction period and up to the present day. A highlight of the eighth grade year is the class trip to Washington D.C. to experience U.S. history more closely and see democracy in action. In religion class and throughout the day, the students prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation by developing a deep, personal relationship with the Holy Spirit through prayer, commitment, sacrament and service.
