Room 213: Ms. Elizabeth Horan’s Class
I like teaching fifth grade students because they are becoming more independent. I like helping them take what they have learned over the past six years and bringing it to a higher level. The family here at Mary, Seat of Wisdom is great. All the parents, teachers and staff have really helped me feel at home. It is great to see a strong community behind the students, encouraging them to always try their best.
Background and Education
I graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with my Bachelors in Elementary Education in 2005. In the summer of 2008 I received my Master in Reading from Concordia University. I look forward to taking additional classes to keep up to date on the latest in education.
Years of Teaching Experience
My first two years of teaching were at Giles School in Norridge. There I was a kindergarten teacher, a fourth grade teacher, and a part time reading specialist. I was then lucky enough to be offered a job here at Mary, Seat of Wisdom. For my first year I taught junior high science and am now on the fifth grade team. In fifth grade I teach reading, language arts, spelling, religion, and science.
Hobbies and Interests
One of my favorite hobbies is reading and I enjoy reading all types of books. I also enjoy watching the Cubs (next year is the year) and the Packers. I spend as much time as I can with my family and friends and during the summer months I look forward to our big family vacation.
