Mary, Seat of Wisdom School
A Blue Ribbon School of Excellence
"Tuned Into Worship"

THE HONOR OF YOUR PRESENCE IS REQUESTED this coming Sunday at Mary, Seat of Wisdom Church and School. The kick-off to our community celebration of Catholic Schools Week will begin at the parish's 9:00 Mass. Our students will help lead us in prayer and song. Following the Mass, all of our school family PLUS any guests or visitors (or potential school families!) are invited to tour the school facility, visit classrooms, see students in action, and share refreshments. It is hoped that all school families will attend!

Students are asked to wear their school uniforms to show their pride and support for MSW School. Students will be bringing their Blue Ribbon home on Friday. We are asking each child to proudly wear their Blue Ribbon over their heart on their school uniform to 9:00 Mass and our Catholic Schools Celebration afterwards. We would also like them to wear it at the Catholic Schools Week Blue Ribbon Assembly on Thursday. We are grateful to the FSA for providing this memento for our MSW students!
Thank you for your help and cooperation!

Our celebration will continue all week long.......................including two OUT OF UNIFORM days sponsored by our Student Council:

Monday, January 30th: Let's "Kick Off" Catholic Schools Week! Students may wear their favorite NFL jersey or team's colors!

Tuesday, January 31st: Cabin fever is starting to set in and it's giving us the chills! Come out-of-uniform in your favorite summer clothes. Flip flops are allowed, and please wear shorts of an appropriate length! No spaghetti straps or short shorts allowed! *Please note students musts come in warm winter clothing with their summer clothes underneath. Students will still be going outside for recess this day.

Wednesday, February 1st: MSW students will have an ALL SCHOOL RETREAT. Students will experience various activities supporting the theme, "God's Transforming Love", and leading to a PRAYER SERVICE at 1:00 PM in Church. Students may wear their Catholic Identity shirts on that day.

Thursday, February 2nd: MSW will hold an ALL SCHOOL ASSEMBLY to celebrate CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK and the BLUE RIBBON AWARD at 1:45 PM. Mr. Tim Tuten, Director of Special Projects, Partnerships, and Events for the Department of Education will speak to the MSW School Community. Students are asked to come to school dressed neatly and in full uniform on Thursday (no gym clothing on that date.) PARENTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND!

As there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, it is hoped that there can be a good turn-out on Thursday, February 2nd, when our Student Council is inviting families to gather at MORETTI'S to celebrate Catholic Schools Week and our BLUE RIBBON AWARD! If you order take out, delivery, or dine in, 15% of the bill will go toward our outreach this year, St. Bonaventure Catholic Indian School.  HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Friday: NO SCHOOL!

NOTE: SPORTS PICTURES are being rescheduled, and will NOT be taken next Friday February 3rd, as was listed on the school calendar

PARENT SUPPORT REQUESTED!

Parents and guardians are asked to send letters to our Capitol Hill legislators stating their personal "good news" about their children's Catholic school education. The goal is to have thousands of letters filled with reasons to support Catholic schools faxed or e-mailed directly to the legislative office by February 1, which is "National Appreciation Day for Catholic Schools."

Parents and guardians can state their reasons for sending their children to Catholic schools. It would be important to stress that legislation which assists low and middle income families in their right to choose the school they believe will best meet the needs of their children. Personal stories, or even an added note from a child, are most effective.

You can contact Congressional representatives in Washington through the following internet address: http://capwiz.com/cape/home/. Type in your zip code and it will open to a template page with a direct link to your representative and a message box where you can type your message. A template letter is available on the school website. Thank you for your continued support of your Catholic schools!

Parents will be able to access information for INCOME TAX purposes by January 31st. The information will be posted on the school's website under News and Information.

8th Grade Parent News: 8th Graders are invited to participate in the annual DO SOMETHING WONDERFUL FOR GOD contest sponsored by our parish's CCW. The winner will receive $500 and a plaque. In past years the submission was to be in essay form. This year students are encouraged to use whatever medium they choose to express how they have internalized what they have learned in the classroom, what they have experienced as they have completed their service projects, and how they plan to remain connected to church and continue to develop their lives as people who can be Christ to others. EACH OF US IS CALLED TO DO SOMETHING WONDERFUL FOR GOD. EACH OF US HAS BEEN BLESSED WITH UNIQUE TALENTS OR SKILLS WHICH WE CAN SHARE WITH OTHERS TO HELP MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE FOR US ALL. Please encourage YOUR student to participate. Entries are due at 4 PM Tuesday, February 28th at the school office (or Rectory). More information is available on the parish website (link from 8th grade page on the school website).
