Extended Day Program
The Extended Day Program (EDP) at MSW serves working families who desire both parochial school education and supplementary care in a Christian environment. It provides professional care, supervision, recreation, and enrichment activities for children enrolled at MSW in preschool (age 4) through 8th grade. The program is open each school day before and after school hours as well as school half days and staff in-service days. EDP is held in the Clark Ministry Center at the north end of the school, with use of the outside playground and two school gyms.
The program provides individual attention, security, consistency, and fair treatment for all children of working parents. This professionally operated program allows students to experience a rich diversity of growth activities within a Catholic environment. Activities are planned to complement the philosophy and value systems of the school and family. EDP Director, Mrs. Leslie Marbach, is always happy to speak with prospective parents and provide a tour of the Clark Ministry Center. Please call the EDP Office at 847-692-2826.

Activities
- Before School Care: Students read, play with toys and games, or complete homework.
- After School Care: Separated by age group, the students work on their homework and then have snack time. They go outside when the weather permits or to the gym for exercise. They participate in arts and crafts projects and play with the many games and toys.
- Preschool Students: Students have lunch, engage in free play inside or outside, and have structured time working with manipulative type projects. Projects are designed to enhance their knowledge of the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and time. There is also story time, rest time, and weekly art projects. Parents provide a sack lunch and a mat for naps.
Additional Activities
EDP also offers rotating extra-curricular activities such as sculpting, aerobics, photography, gymnastics, dance, tae-kwon-do, basketball, and ballet. These on-site programs are usually one-hour sessions that meet weekly for six to eight weeks and are offered at additional cost.
Field trips are planned for school half-days and in-service days. The cost of these trips is the responsibility of each family.
EDP is open during Christmas and Spring breaks, providing care from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m Activities are comparable to the summer program.
Staff
EDP is staffed by a director and a number of devoted and committed aides. The staff, employed on a full- or part-time basis, work together to help each child grow in maturity and self-respect. They maintain an atmosphere wherein respect and understanding for others is realized.
